Dedicated to the naysayers out there

This article lists 15 Failed Predictions about the Future. So the next time someone says you can't do this, or that isn't practical, remember that Margaret Thatcher never thought there would be a female prime minister in her lifetime.

Also, don't be afraid to eat your words. I prefer mine with Worcestershire sauce and a hint of garlic.

There still hasn't been. There have been 51 men, and one ghastly, soulless, emotionless, havoc-wreaking automaton. ;)

I stand corrected, Spike. ;-)

Gods save Margaret Thatcher.

Just one more area Spike, Laurel and I disagree on.

I love Ms. Thatcher.

That's because you didn't have to live under her reign of terror. If I were three and half thousand miles away when she was driving Britain into the ground and had her tongue perpetually up the arsehole of the leader of the country I was in, I'm sure I'd think she was pretty great too!

But I was there whilst unemployment hit an all-time high, morale hit and all-time low, tax went up, VAT went up (causing even more unemployment), the coal industry was decimated, retreating enemy ships were bombed in exclusion zones, essential services sold off (which are to this day still useless), the Scots used as lab rats for new and unfair taxes and an estimated 28% of all children were living below the poverty line. And it wasn't pretty.

Like I always say; everything in Britain stops too early, except for Margaret Thatcher's pacemaker.

Sorry, didn't mean to make this a political post (for once in my life). It was only an affirmation that predictions are false all the time.

Spike, not everyone here was enamored with Ms. Thatcher. In that time, though, I was concerned with others things, like watching the unemployment rate in our town spiral through the 20% range due to the effects of Reagan's policies on our area. And Ms. Thatcher having various bodily connections to Reagan, well, that was yet another reason to dislike her.

Aren't the posts that inspire an organic comments tree great, though?

It's funny, Thatch reminds me a lot of the way people talk about Diana(tm) here, she's held in high esteem mostly because people here didn't have to pay for her ludicrously opulent lifestyle whilst they were on the breadline.

OK, OK... I'll stop!! =D
